The memorial was unveiled on Armistice Day 1919.
Kennethmont War Memorial Committee commissioned the firm of Rust and Anderson, Aberdeen to carry out the work according to their instructions.

7th June 2002

At the beginning of June 2002 the fine granite Celtic Cross at Kennethmont Old Kirkyard was cleaned and restored to it's original splendour by N & M Calder, Monumental Masons, Boghead, Kintore.
Aberdeenshire Council are to be commended for organising this work following a discussion between Fiona McLey of their Leisure Services Department and the author of this website.
