The 3/4th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders was formed in May 1915. On 8/4/1916 it became the 4th (Reserve) Battalion and was stationed in Scotland throughout the War
This battalion eventually absorbed the 5th and 6th Reserve Battalions..

Formed February 1915, 3/4th and the others in May 1915.
November 1915 moved to Ripon.
8/4/1916 the Battalions were all amalgamated as 4th Reserve Battalion.
February 1918 in Edinburgh.
September 1918 in Kilmarnock.
Furnished replacements for the Service Battalions and were part
of the Forth Garrison.
